La nación sentida

Colombia, 1949. El país se busca en sus palabras
April, 2018
Aguilar

As a continuation of Mataron a Gaitán, Herbert Braun proposes a look at the months that followed April 9. Through telegrams, stories, press articles and speeches, he recovers the impressions of public and anonymous figures during the critical year of 1949, when Colombians from top to bottom felt the tremor of their time and sensed their future.

La nación sentida is a history book out of the ordinary and, as such, has the gift of reliving the passions forgotten by official history. When connecting different stories, Braun composes a fascinating text in which he manages to capture the sensibility of a country: behaviors, social strata and everyday life where the historical conditions and circumstances that gave shape to present-day Colombia are encoded.
